Steph - Owner
I started this business to fill a niche, and so far its been a great journey! My background is Falconry, which I have done since 2010, however this was not where I began my career with animals! I started in 2007 working at Flamingo Land, working in the Bird and Sealion shows. Since then I have gained two degrees in both Zoo Management and Animal Health and Welfare. I have worked in a few different Zoos and Falconry centres across the UK, and also had the opportunity of working in the UAE for 6 years. There I worked for a Sheikh in his bird of prey centre, I then moved to take on the bird training department at a zoo in Abu Dhabi, which lead to me managing the whole of the Zoos bird department. I ended my time in Dubai, flying birds for pest control, and providing private shows for tour companies. I kind of stumbled across invertebrates during covid, and my love for them spiralled!
Kaia - The Little Helper
Kaia is my daughter - an absolute whirlwind who never stops. She adores the bugs, but her absolute favourites are the tarantulas! She even has her one of her own. She comes along to sessions with me and shows the children how to touch and hold each of the creatures and does an absolutely fantastic job! She can get a bit bossy though, so I do apologise in advance for that!
The Tarantulas
I currently have 25 tarantulas! Ranging from tiny spiderlings to huge adult bird eaters.
Some of the main stars -
Sancho - Mexican Red Knee
Aztec - Desert Blonde
Aubrey - Mexican Red Leg
Bonnie - Salmon Pink Bird Eater
Blaze - Mexican Flame Knee
The Crickets
My absolute favourites! The Thorny Cricket. I have 4 of these, still quite young at the moment but growing well! Not much is known about this species as they are quite new to the hobby so I am continuing to learn about them!
The Stick Insects
